At Rowan High School, we believe that some of the most memorable and valuable learning experiences happen beyond the classroom. We are proud to offer an exciting and varied programme of trips, visits, sporting activities and enrichment opportunities that enable our pupils to experience new places, develop new skills and build confidence and independence. 

Our curriculum is brought to life through a range of subject-specific educational visits. These include English theatre trips and visits to the Shakespeare North Playhouse, as well as History visits to fascinating locations such as Quarry Bank Mill and Norton Priory. These experiences give pupils the opportunity to connect their classroom learning with the wider world in an engaging and meaningful way. 

We also provide exciting whole-school experiences, such as visiting Alton Towers. These occasions give pupils the chance to enjoy new experiences alongside their peers, strengthen friendships and develop their social communication, confidence and independence. 

Sport and physical activity are an important part of our enrichment offer. Pupils have opportunities to take part in activities such as canoeing, represent the school in football competitions and enjoy regular visits to the gym. We also make frequent use of the Rowan Activity Park, providing further opportunities for pupils to be active and develop teamwork skills.
